OK…the Jackalope doesn’t feel like preaching today.

Here are a couple of cartoons that may make you grin (may the Jackalope suggest that you join him in a buck-toothed grin? :))

So, um…Carpe Diem and stuff

I’ve mentioned this film before, but was so inspired by watching it again recently that I wanted to share one of the big highlight scenes with my fellow Jackalope Club members.

Watch this and see if it doesn’t make you more determined to create an extraordinary day…and life.

“Heroism consists of hanging on one minute longer.”
— Norwegian Proverb

Ok, I’m a little biased toward today’s quote because my ancestors are Norwegian seamen.

In fact, I’m posting the trailer for the movie “A Perfect Storm” right now.

If you’ve seen the film, you may wonder how this is a Jackalope-worthy clip.

Well, I’ll tell you…I was so inspired by watching George Clooney courageously manning the helm of his little ship!  He was “going for it” even in the face of odds that most people would have said, “NO WAY I’m going to make it.  I’ll just let the waves take me down.”

Not George Clooney’s character.  He employed every resource and every single shred of positive energy he had.  It’s his courage and intensity that inspire me to greater action today.

So, anyway…I wish you a day filled with passion and optimism.

PS…what other lessons do you see in this film?

You may have seen this simple presentation before.  If you haven’t, it’s one to watch.  If you have seen it (I had), it’s a wonderful time to be reminded of its truth.

I recommend that you take a short break.  Close your door, turn up your speakers, take a deep breath and watch this…

Presenting: “The Dash” Movie…Click here to watch

It was sent to me by my great friend and web/graphic designer extraordinaire, Thayne Rigby.  If you want to see what Thayne’s all about (including his abilities to create flash presentations like this one–The Dash isn’t his, but he does stuff just like it), visit him at http://www.theantishrill.com .  He’s a special guy and can create wonderful websites and every kind of beautifully printed piece you can imagine…at a great price. (I don’t get a commission for saying that, either 🙂 )

Make it a great day.  Be mindful.  Slow Down.

“A champion is one who gets up even when he can’t.”
— Jack Dempsey, Heavyweight Boxing Champion

How many times have you been knocked down over the last 2 years?

I sometimes watch boxing matches and pick out my favorite fighter.  As the rounds go by, it’s so easy to see how fatigue becomes a greater adversary than the actual opponent.

Then, the guy I want to pull it off starts taking body shots.  He’s hurting and exhausted.  He has stinging sweat running down into his eyes.

I find myself clenching my own fists and squinting my eyes and saying, “come on!  come on!  you can do this…”.

So, how do you feel right now?  Are you gasping for breath and trying to keep your hands up?  Have you taken a few blows to the head?

If so, you may be closer to victory than you think.  Hang in there, my friend.  Get into your corner and catch your breath if you need to.  Let your coaches and supporters help you keep perspective.

Courage…

There have been quite a few people show up on the Jackalope Club and email me saying “What the HECK is a Jackalope???”

Those are people who are A). illiterate or B). haven’t seen the movie yet. 🙂

OK, that sounded a bit harsh.  I am going to assume they are on option “B).”.  That is pretty tragic and I intend to put a stop to it right now…

Here’s the movie.  If you haven’t seen it before, now’s a great time to spend 3 1/2 minutes inspiring yourself and maybe even getting a chuckle or two.
